I'm just wondering, Bruno. Should the North Polar Cap be white and a bit distinctive? Otherwise it is not a bad shot. Thanks for posting.

You are right Aubrey, I don't know why, maybe its a combination of the bad seeing on the night and my poor processing. This is my first planetary imaging and processing since 2010. I will try again when sky is suitable.

Bruno - image appears to have captured some considerable detail there - and it is suprising that there is no obvious polar cap (I dont know which one should be dominant right now).
When I scrutinise the image I can convince myself that you have captured a north and particuarly south polar cap - but only if one regards the image as rotated in the image plane such that the polar regions are about half eight and half two (as it were on a a clock).
I really don'y know if polar caps should be prominant at this time.
Though - could just be me - if one rotates such that what is now half-two is rotated to twelve O'Clock position - you've got a hell of a face there!
It could be that I need to change the brand of cheese I eat though.

Great detail! It looks though that perhaps the white balance of your camera was off when capturing. I can see the north polar cap at the left of the image, but its not showing it colour.
Just a guess, it may be a different issue.

Nice image John, as others have said lots of detail in there.
Just a thought if you haven’t used RGB Balance (Auto balance) or Colour Mixing in Registax functions
give it a try it might just tone down the colour a tad and reveal more detail.
Well done
Tony
