Every now and then I really enjoy observing variable stars.
Since I was still up late tonight at 2454641.52083 JD, I couldn't resist making a visual estimation of SRb variable RR Her and submitting it to AAVSO.
It was quite a lot brighter than I was used to see it and very red.
So I gave it a good 8.8 - comparison stars 8.5 and 9.3 mag.
AAVSO Chart
Period of variability: 239.7 days
Varies: 8.8 - 13.5 mag
And quite R E D : C5.7 - C8.1!!!
Clear Skies,

Hi Vagelis,
I have observed SR's Variables for a long time now, but not RR Her.
I concentrate on binocular/pronto range ones. But I will add this star to my list!
Also you might add the symbiotic CH Cyg to your list, if not on already.
The sky here does not get even semi-dark here until 12.30am local time,
It good that you contribute to AAVSO,
John

Hi John,
Never observed CH Cyg, I 'll try to observe it tonight!
I mostly do Miras, and a few dwarf nova cataclysmics.

Vagelis, John, I too observe variable stars and am a member of AAVSO, though I've never observed RR Her. Where did you get that photo, it looks great!

Hi Keith,
Here: sky-map.org/
I have just made a visual observation of CH Cyg.
I estimated it at 9.0 mag, using the 9.3 and the 8.5 comparison stars at AAVSO chart: 080624 (DR).
Time was 10:15 pm local - 2454642.30208 JD
I am glad to meet you, guys! my AAVSO code is TVS.
Variable Stars is a true love for ever!!!

Thanks Vagelis, variable star observing is very much under rated. My AAVSO code is GKI.
