Lovely clear sky in Belfast tonight, and, in amongst the usual suspects, I managed to pick up a nice double and a superb little triple. I used the 12" Lightbridge to observe these;
Struve 2725 - in the same field as the sublime Gamma Delphinus, this is a pair of yellow stars, quite evenly matched. Barely split at 40x, but excellent at 100x
Struve 2703 - near Beta Delphinus, this is a superb triple system, obvious even at 40x, three bright little white pinpoints of light, two quite close together with the third slightly further away (think Triangulum). A really nice find and highly recommended.
I also spotted a nice little asterism described by Sue French as the 'Toadstool' (page 135 of Celestial Sampler). It is in a straight line from Alpha through Gamma Delphinus and on again about twice the distance between the two stars, passing the globular cluster NGC7006, (which I couldn't see). The stars of the asterism are all quite faint, but the shape is pretty obvious.
