Hi,

CI Cyg is still bright, visible in a small telescope. Its a symbiotic star.

You can use the AAVSO Variable Star Plotter to generate charts.
See and follow links at top-left of the home page to 'VSX'. They are free to download and you don't have to be a member of the AAVSO.

I would be glad to receive any observations,

John

John - any hints on the best filter to use and comparison stars for photometry? I had a look at the web site but couldn't find finder charts (though that's not a big deal unless they show comparisons too).

Dave,

I gave the wrong link on the AAVSO site. It should be
'Find charts' and put the name 'ci cyg' under 'Pick a star'.
The chart includes recommended comparisons.

If using only one filter its probably best to use a V-filter. A
B-filter is also useful to get a colour index (B-V), likewise an R-filter is useful.

See:
for useful info and guidance from the AAVSO,

good observing,
John
