I was thinking of the 6303E... Just like you were thinking of the ST1100M
Actually, the ST7 is more in my price range - the ST8 might be a stretch. Consider that I'd get the BVRI filter set and a filter wheel and the price rockets...
The chip size for what I want to do is actually not that critical. The bigger chips obviously give more scope for wider fields but the ST7 chipsize is fine for my needs, which is not widefield imaging.
With the ST7 in the config I'd like, its about $4k new...
Are you seriously considering the ST10?

I am, but a second hand one in astromart, I'm not buying one of these new, and I'm talking about the next year or so, not anytime soon.
