We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

thanks everybody for your welcome... in answer to dmcdona i found the site by surfing in my lunch hour... hungry for knowledge... but sad to see our winter skies slowly deminish sob sob
anyway does anyone have an opinion on the 10 in meade lightbridge? it looks handsome and reviews are medium good. I dont think there are any dealers in Ireland, looks like a good scope to travel in a hatchback, or have I been seduced by its novelty value?

While over at the UK astrofest in London a few months back, I came across the various lightbridge scopes, all the sizes. I have to say I was happily surprised by their sturdiness and quality. I'd say go for it, but I'd bet you'd be upgrading from the 10" to a bigger aperture, I know I would.
The 12" is excellent value for money, while the 16" is a tiny bit more then I'd expect given the cost of the smaller scopes, then again, we all know that mirror costs go up literally exponentially with diameter.
