Iceland Turns off the lights

Iceland turned off all it's streetlights last night to let people view the stars.

Does anyone know where to get any satellite imagery of this event.

Or indeed, any other reports.

is all I have at the moment.

I'll keep an eye out for reports and images for you.

Some areas in Europe do this for science/astronomy days but this is the first time I've seen it on a national level! I suggested doing this to a local government employee a couple of years ago and was told that this would be unworkable and was ILPAC willing to be responsible for the increase in crime on the night? :shock:

More educating to do!

By the way, it's easy for Icelanders to turn off all Iceland's lights.

The whole country has about the same population as Cork City.

And virtually all 300,000 of then live in the same town..Reykjavik!
