Cheers Dave,
Good advice on both counts. stereo vision is usually better alright and I am one of those people who have a close call when looking at the sun through bino's and telescope. the baader film lense that i made was great and still works but as you said fell off my3.7" refractor and only that i put my hand up to the eyepiece as habit. I was as you can imagine, pale for about an hour while holding my hand in cold water.SO when that happens once you usually get the fright of your life and become very careful. I could tell you stories as I work in a hospital in dublin!!!

I take it that you recommend the glass as opposed to the Black Polymer? Do these take long to ship?

Thanks for your help

Good question about the black polymer, the site say its for low mag, I've never seen the sun using one of those filter so I dont know, you'd save 60$ going for them.
As for shipping, I got mine within 2 or 3 weeks, well packaged.

Hi Dave,
Just a quick question, when you ordered your solar filters off the thousands oaks dealers, did you recieve an e-mail to say that they are processing your order. I e-mailed my order in and contacted them through their info e-mail aswell. But no reply as of yet!

Cheers
Sean

Sorry, forget that last post. As soon as I closed down the session there was a e-mail waiting for me. Thanks anyway.

I was thinking about getting a thousand oaks filter for
my etx-125 scope.

Does anyone know What are these filters like for visual & photography?
Dave?...you said you had these?
Or how would you go about trying to catch prominances or details etc?

Frank, they are excellent for visual and images, they are white light filters in that is sunspot/faculae detail you will see, you'd need h-alpha for flares/prominences.
