defination of a moon? was created by fguihen
its really difficult to find a straight forward answer to this online. What is the defination of a moon? i know it has to be in regular orbit around a planet, but how big does an object have to be to be considered a moon? whats the difference between a moon, a moon asteroid and just debris?

I think history will show that the Moon is an affectionate name for the natural satellite of Earth. Scientifically, it is satellite (natural or artificial) that means a body that revolves around a (more larger) one. Therefore, the pet name of moons came about once it was found that other planets and asteroids etc had smaller natural satellite companions, or moons.

Moon: to expose ones buttocks in public as an act of fun or as a display of derision or disrespect (when directed at a particular party.)
You had that coming!
