Can anyone offer an explanation, preferably serious, as to why when imaging close to the moons edge the images were bouncing around more than when near the terminator. I have asked this on another forum but no real explanation could be reached. It is unlikely that the reflected light from the moon could have any significant effect on atmospheric seeing conditions. Any takers?

I've noticed this visually in reflectors but not in refractors or small compound scopes. Then again I don't do imaging. I either observe visually or take (digital) still photographs.
