Polar aligning without North star?

Has anyone reading this ever polar aligned an ETX before?

Ive been looking into its tracking capabilities and in polar alignment
it's not half bad.
Might be worth a shot.
I want to learn how to PA a scope anyway for when I win the Lotto and
can buy my C14 and Losmandy mount!
