Just joined. Checking out different societies in the UK. I have also joined Astro Chat this week.
Have only 10X50 binos (borrowed ones at that) but am really enjoying learning. Looking out for a suitable scope but at the moment happy to do a bit of astrophotography with my digi.

Really glad to have found lots of astronomy groups on line.

Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Binos are an invaluable tool as they reveal so much of the heavens and are beautiful on the Milky Way.

Before long you'll feel the tug of aperture on your wallet, and as most will tell you, it's an irresistable force.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask there's always someone willing to help.

Welcome aboard Meteor. I think I still use my 10x50 bionoculars more than my telescope. They are just so easy to pick up at a moment's notice when ever you stumble upon a clear sky. Great things binoculars.

Anyhow, always feel free to ask questions here, we're a friendly bunch I promise :)

Welcome to the board. You'll also find a few Astro Chat members here so you may have to suffer some double posts.

Just remember, on here you take the mick out of Seanie(you can thump me at the Whirlpool mate) and on Astro Chat its James(Moderator). You could also join the sky at night forum and take the mick out of James(moderator  ) again.

Hi Meteor, .. and welcome.

I'm a big fan of the binos. Like Bart, I use my 10x50s more often than than my scope. In fact, my scope is rarely used.

There are a few of advantages to using binos, firstly, because of the wider field of view, it is much easier to find your way around the sky. Secondly, the wider field of view is actually better for observing some things in the sky, such as comets and open clusters just to name a couple.
Another advantage is that your view is the right way up and the right way around, something thats very helpful when learning the night sky.

Anyway, as Bart said, we're a friendly bunch so never be afraid to ask... the only silly question is the question that isn't asked. :)
