Thank you all for the warm welcome! Will certainly be back with lots of questions. Hopefully will get sorted with a telescope in the next few weeks.

Welcome to the madhouse meteor.
Take your time thinking about a scope
worst thing to happen would be for you to buy something and for it
not to be right for you - that could put you off this craic very quickly.
I'd say nearly every amateur astronomer has a pair of 10x50's laying around.
They are an almost essential piece of kit.

Hi Meteor and a warm welcome!
Yep, I'd go with the 10x50s - I have a pair by the front door and a pair in the car, can't go wrong!
The one bit of telescope advice I'd give is this:- Spend a lot of time making sure that the finderscope and the telescope are pointing in exactly the same direction! It really does make the difference between a lifetime of enjoyment and quick frustration leading to the pursuit of other interests!
Clear skies,
Paul.

Welcome aboard...
I'm a newbie as well and the guys here are very helpful - as you can see already.
I purchased 10X50 recently - but I'm still waiting on a clear night
We will have to compare notes on how we are progessing as we are starting off at the same point.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome to the forum.
Madhatter definetly good we are starting at same time. Don't get too advanced to show me up!
When I say I am an amateur I really mean that.
