NEW TELESCOPE LAUNCHED. was created by pmgisme
Aperture really does rule the roost in Astronomy.
My lifestyle dictates that a 20" Obsession would be too bulky and ungainly, stuck in one spot, and therefore largely unused.
Obsession read my thoughts.
They have come up with a new hum-dinger of an 18" telescope.

Oh Peter that is absolutely fabulous. It looks so well built. Did you notice how the truss tubes are arranged? Not the standard truss arrangement. This manages to use less tubes than the standard truss.
I'd love to see some close up shots of how the base is put together.
Keep that piggy bank filling:)

I noted this scope a few weeks back and have been watching the obsession yahoo group regarding it and generally speaking the feedback is positive!
It seems like a fine scope and is designed with transportation in mind,
its 445$ dearer then the classic 18" obsession, so I'd go for it only if transportation is an issue.
I have to say now that I've used the 20" abit, I just cant believe I didn't go for a larger aperture before, I suppose I used to think that 12 inches of aperture was alot, now its an intermediate size. After doing abit more searching on the web, 20 inches for a dob isn't enormous, check out these goliaths.
