Hey there
Thanks for the replies and suggestions - I think the PC Ocular looks pretty good ( thanks John ) - I dont really want to get into still imaging just yet - from what I have read on these boards it looks like a big outlay if you want decent results ....... and then theres aperture fever to contend with too !! Baby steps ! Rice's idea of hooking up wirelessly looks interesting as I think there are signalling issues around the length of USB cable between scope and PC.

Yes there are indeed length restrictions with a normal USB lead. I think I did see a 'USB' length extender at one stage but it was (from memory) limited to about 5 or 10M ie still fairly restricted.

Thinking about it there are units available that allow printers to be connected directly to a radio link and into a LAN - this type of device might be the way to go with a few experiments ( when I get time)!

Hi, I'm not sure if the Astrovid cameras can be conected to a PC.
Normally you can see through a TV or monitor. But I think it can be connected to a Tv card or capture card on you PC.

Thanks Carles
I just ordered a PC Ocular for 79 euro so its not too expensive for a first camera/viewer - it might whet the appetite for bigger and more expensive things!!!
Hope I can rig something up so that the scope can be viewed INSIDE the house on the PC - the residents here have no staying power and cant stand the cold!
They dont make kids like they used to !!

Ok Chris, tell us how it works :D

as an alternative, you can get a webcam and modify it, there is some folks that get really interesting images with it.
That's froma a Spanish forum

With a phillips spc900 (I think is the popular Toucam).

But no idea on how it lookson real time. Becaus that's stacking 11 pics of 30". any way, long time ago, i modified (and later destroyed  ) a simple logitec quickcam pro, and on real time views, for moon and Jupiter, was really nice :D
I don't know nothing about that PC Ocular you bought, might be interesting :D

Carles.
