I had just bought my scope a couple of weeks before i saw the Meade ETX 70AT in Lidl. If i hadn't have already bought a scope i would have bought it in Lidl. I was tempted to still buy one when i saw them, but i was going on holiday for christmas and needed the cash.
Also i was a bit baffled by all the electronics involved in it. I have a theory that the simpler something is..............the less chance of it breaking.
But hey...............if Lidl run the same offer next christmas...............who knows.
There is pretty good feedback on the astronomical goodies here that Lidl sell every christmas.
Course most of the guys here are uuber professionals (while still being amateurs) and snap these Lidl deals up "just for fun".
So if they are good enough for those guys.................you can bet they are good enough for us newbies.
I still say that you cant beat a good pair of bins. I used the same ones for over 20 yrs.

Rossa,
See how you go with the webcam you have but if you spend just
a few quid more (around 100Euro) you can get a
Philips SPC900 webcam. (It used to be called the Philips ToUcam)
This is just a regular webcam with the lens popped off and
an eyepiece adapter attached to the front.
Its very easy to do:
www.robertreeves.com/900NC.htm
Then you just need to get an Infra Red filter for the eyepiece adapter
(I got both the eyepiece adapter and IR filter on ebay very cheaply)
There is more on it here in this old post...
