Carly, check out your local Astronomy club and keep an eye to these boards for events and observing sessions.
hold on a few months before buying a telescope Check out Lidl's around Christmas time for cheap telescope. They often have decent quality midrange telescopes (small refractors, and small go-to scopes)

As everybody will tell you, there is a lot of people out there to advise and help you

I would be happy to lend you a 4 inch Go To scope for a while if you would like to try
it out? Its on loan to a guy at the moment but he has had it for a few months and a phone call should send it back my way. Its good to check out scopes before ye buy so you get an idea what ye really want or need.

The only catch is you agree to use it and maybe share the sky with other people.
Perhaps someone in your area would help you to set it up et cetra ? as I live in Wicklow.
