New astronomy group set up in South Kerry

Well Mr. Super Giant you'll just have to come down here to Kerry and show off that scope of yours.

I well remember that night in Dromid,
the planets put on a right show...a perfect perfect viewing night. We were freezing though, should have brought a hot drink. When we really get the show on the road I want to get a group of us to go to one of your meetings, at the moment there's so much to organise and put together and I want to get it done before the real good observing nights come in Mid October.
We have a great spot in Caherciveen, real dark with a great room to meet and talk in, so that's where I think your group should come when you visit us.
I will email you all the going's on as they come up so you can be aware and maybe there might be a lecture or something that you or one of your group might like to come to.
Here's the latest:
Sept 24th.... Culture night in Tech Amergin, a talk by Prof.John Sheehan about the Archaeological History of the Iveragh Penensulastarts at 8.00pm. Then at 10.00 our group will give a talk ans slide show, outside viewing (the usual weather permitting).

October 1st Pub Quiz, in the Lobster Bar, Waterville to raise funds for equipment.

October 23rd ...Geo Fest in Ballinskelligs...it will be the first night of the full moon so Kate (our Astro-physicist)will be giving a the talk/showing followed by outside stuff.

Nov 7 - 14th Nov Science week....
Opening the week on 7th in Tech Amergin, Waterville with a Lecture by Kate on 'our place in space'.
Lecture in The Caherciveen Library also by Kate.
Nov 13th Children's workshop in the Caherciveen Library.
Nov 14th Closing Lecture/Viewing don't know where yet. In between those Nov dates we are trying to put together something with the secondary school and primary schools, let you know when we know.

Dec 21st...Luner Eclipse and Solstice ...something big for tha for definite , let you know the plan when we know.

In between all the above I have a few meetings and more pub quizzes.

Great stuff Seanie, that's an offer I certainly won't forget, and I intend to use it a lot. Of course you are welcome down here anytime. Bring along your scope and your tips. Knowledge is a great thing. Those who have been there done that are always the one to listen to, they can save the likes of myself a lot of time wasting.
