Using zoom with a dslr ? was created by daveg54
Guys,
Ive connected my dslr to my nexstar 8 se and get some great pics of the moon etc .... but for further away objects, is it possible to zoom using the camera and take an image of the zoomed item?
In other words when im using my eyepieces i get a closer image but when the camera is attached via T ting, its hard to see what your looking at as we have no use of an eyepiece?
Hope you follow?
Cheers

What dslr have you got if you have a canon theirs
a crop mode that zooms in it goes 1080p 720p 480p
the crop then zoom.

Hi Dave. The simple answer is no and the advice I'd give if there is a "zoom" function on the DSLR is don't use it. True zoom is optical zoom not digital and you can only get optical zoom by adjusting the lens. Because your cam is attached to your scope (the lens) then its fixed and zoom is not possible. Digital zoom is just that, it's the same as zooming in on the image in photoshop. It will only degrade the image.
Hope this helps.
Post your pics up when you take em!

I thought as much, as im able to crop and resize afterwards on the laptop which is a digital enhancement... not great quality!
Is there a gallery we can add photos too? Or can i just attach them to a thread/ post ? I think i read somewhere we cant attach photos to treads?
