Great views of satellites was created by Pat_K
I'm new to the forum, but just thought I'd share that I spotted some really enjoyable views of satellites on Friday night from around 10.50pm til 11.20pm (took a quick break half way to get family outside). I spotted 5 in about this 20 minute period and they were easy to point out to others as well. It helped that I had I got a free iPhone app called Satellites which gave the basic data I needed to find them quickly in the night sky. Given its free I'd highly recommend it, and recommend going and seeing those high flyers around 10.50pm.

Thanks Pat,
Yeah, love seeing the auld satellites flying around up there. I usually think, 'wow, that one's definitely going to abduct me with the silent treatment and the not so pleasant probing etc' but then I get off my ET buzz and return to reality where I accept that the Americans put them there in order to read our thoughts and eventually turn us into their mindless oil soldiers.
Such is life.
But seriously, they are pretty cool. I do wish I knew which one I'm looking at though. I'll have to get that app you speak of.

Sorry if you're looking for it on iTunes its full name turns out to be "Satellite Watcher" -
itunes.apple.com/ie/app/satellite-watcher/id367262608?mt=8&ls=1
The only wish I had is that it would hold on to the past few passes so you could check after the fact - "oh what was that". It's free so I can't complain too much

Hi pat,
I got 'satellite tracker' that day, but it's a bit confusing. I'm downloading the watcher now so will test that out... As soon as the god of cloud stops throwing his tantrum.

Yeah 'Satellite Tracker' doesn't look like a visually friendly app at all. There isn't a huge amount to 'Satellite Watcher' just click on i in the upper right corner. Set to preview. I only turned on satellites and constellations. I let it scan 3 days so I can check a little in advance too. Then just set your minimum magnitude and let it take your location. More straight forward than it looks.
I also like these apps:
Sputnik (for iridium flares & ISS) - itunes.apple.com/ie/app/sputnik!/id393001070?mt=8&ls=1
Exoplanet - itunes.apple.com/ie/app/exoplanet/id327702034?mt=8&ls=1
Sun Viewer aka NASA Space Weather Media Viewer(shows live-ish views of sun) - itunes.apple.com/ie/app/nasa-space-weath...d398687618?mt=8&ls=1
