AC adaptor for a Celestron Nexstar SE was created by iankennedy
Hi,
Can any of you recommend an AC adaptor for a Celestron Nexstar SE? Ive read a few articles online that state I need a 12V 1A 5.5mm centre positive plug to connect to the scope. I checked amazon for some generic universal adaptors, but none state the diameter of the plugs they are supplied with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ian

All I can tell you Ian is that the AC adaptor from my Panasonic camcorder turned out to be the perfect fit for my 8SE, so I use that on occasions... but generally I just connect it to a Maplin jumpstarter.

I had one for a Nexstar 4se, i got it from the old Astronomy Ireland. Id say the lads in Scopes and Space could help you with that. I think it was about 15 euro

I did a duckduckgo search for "power adapter 12v 1.5A 5.5mm" and got quite a few hits, a number from amazon.co.uk

Note that it's generally good practice to choose a PSU that can supply more amperage than specified by the device hence 1.5A. Also, 5.5mm specifies the barrel diameter; whilst most sockets and connectors are standardised be wary that the internal pin may be of varying diameter:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coaxial_power_connector#Standards

Note 'Type A' has two variants.

(Note that duckduckgo is simply a search engine, you could do the same search on google but the latter a tendency to track people)
