March 20th Solar Eclipse: What are clubs doing? was created by Seanie_Morris
In an effort to find some collaboration between IFAS clubs, what are the different clubs (and even individuals) doing in Ireland for the Partial Solar Eclipse on March 20th? IFAS will be helping member clubs with promotion and merchandise, This is currently being discussed in the IFAS Reps/Council forum.
Club Reps: Please PM me or Paul Evans your contact details, easpecially if this has changed recently during an AGM.
Thanks,
Seanie.

I have built a workshop specialy for this partial solar eclipse
Its called "Smiley Face Eclipse " I hope the schools that will take part will hold their own eclipse
viewings on that morning.
Of course this partial solar eclipse is weather permitting , however the learning within the workshop
is weather proof. I have not decided where I will be that morning as yet.

I work in a college and I plan to set up equipment for the students to observe the event. Where can I get my hands on solar specs?

The club here in Limerick (SAC) will most definitely be running a public observing session for this, its something thats been in the planning for the past few months.
We had considered going up north for it and capturing a greater eclipse, but given the trip distances and the cloud percentages, I'm not sure its worth the long journey tbh.
Frank Ryan, (the clubs PRO) will put up the observing details when he has it finalized, suffice to say that it will involve an observing session where the club and members of the public will all get views of the partial eclipsed Sun through solar scopes on the Friday morning of the eclipse.
We intend to advertise it and raise public awareness of it, including the dangers of the Sun, this is something that cannot be under-stated.
Lets hope the weather plays ball.
