Hi all. I see on my calendars that there is an extremely tight conjunction on Wednesday night (4/03/15) with Venus and Uranus only 10 arc minutes apart. According to Guide 8 and Guy Ottewell this will be the closest planetary conjunction of 2015.
Unfortunately, I shall not be free to observe it. Perhaps someone else will.

Aubrey.

Needed the 8 inch to catch a fleeting glimpse through scudding cloud Aubrey, quite impressive in spite of - or perhaps because of - the vast disparity between the two; Venus more than 9,000 times brighter than its 'neighbour' B)

Mars' turn next week, ¼° from Uranus on the eleventh.

I am delighted someone saw this conjunction. Even when I got home at about 10pm, the sky in Dublin was overcast.

Well done Fermidox. What magnification did you use? And was Uranus as green as Ireland?

Aubrey.

It was the workhorse 32mm Aubrey, so x63. Uranus looked pale, almost translucent to my eyes, but then conditions were mediocre or worse. Managed a few dslr shots but had no opportunity to take any through the scope -
