Here is another conjunction that is even easier to observe than Mercury and the Pleiades.
Venus passes less than 1 degree north of double star 118 Tauri on Friday night. The gibbous phase of Venus should be visible also.
118 Tauri is a white -blue double with a separation of 4.7 arc seconds. I split it last night with a mere 40X. A is 5.8, B is 6.7 magnitudes.
Unfortunately I will not see it tonight. I hope somebody in Ireland does.
