Hi,

The Perigee Full-Moon was a striking sight as it rose yesterday evening (1 Jan 2018).

Please see my website Variable Star Nights for an image of it as it rose over the sea at Rush, Co Dublin.

Happy New Year, John and Sara.
A big thank you for your image on your website.
Valerie and I greatly enjoyed observing the Wolf Supermoon on the 1st of January also.
It was lovely to view it after all yesterday's rain in my William Optics 158 mm apochromatic refractor at magnifications up to 112X. My 10 mm Pentax gives me 112X and 35 arc minutes TFOV.
So we able to see the Full Moon from one side to the other in one sweep!
At 11X in my small 70 mm apo, the bright star Alhena was southwest of the first Full Moon of 2018.
I also observed one of your favourite asteroids, John, -Flora.
Guide 9.1 tells me it was 154,500,000 kilometres from Earth at magnitude 8.2 on the 1st January.
So that makes it far beyond the orbit of Mars -very interesting.

Clear skies from Aubrey.
