Total Solar Eclipse 2nd July 2019 was created by flt158
Good evening to everyone who is interested in the Total Solar Eclipse which will occur on 2nd July 2019.
My wife and I will be travelling to western Argentina.
It will be my 11th TSE and Valerie's 9th.
Between us that means we will have seen 20 Total Solar Eclipses between us.
I often ask myself: will this be the last one?
However, we will be travelling with Astro Eclipse from Sunday 23rd June in London.
From there, we fly to Madrid; and then onto Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
We shall see both sides of the Iguazo waterfalls - from Brazil first, then from the other side from Argentina. They are the widest in the world!
We fly to Buenos Aires on 28th June.
Then we fly to San Juan Province on 30th June.
Eclipse day is 2 days later (2nd July) near a small town called Bella Vista.

After that, we spend 2 days in Chile to the capital Santiago.
On 5th July we start the long trek home.
Then we start to recover from the dreaded jet lag!
That might not be too bad. There are 4 hours difference between Argentina and Ireland.

Our equipment:

We already have our eclipse glasses.
We have Mylar filters for our binoculars.
As ever, my binos are my Meade 9X63's.
And I do have a tripod.

Weather conditions:

The winds are light in Bella Vista - highest 10 mph.
Temperatures are now 15 degrees Celsius in the mid afternoon.
Clear skies seem to be guaranteed for the Eclipse day.
clearoutside.com has provided me with all the important information over the last 2 weeks.
I have been checking with the BBC satellite imagery website also.

If anyone wishes to check in on www.cloudynights.com for further posts, you are very welcome to do so.
There are 2 posts -one in Chile and the other in Argentina under the heading Solar Observing.
I am sorry to say I do not know of any other Irish people who are travelling for this TSE in Argentina.
I have just met with one individual who is going to Chile.
But you never know who we will meet when we are in the vast country of Argentina.

Any questions or comments are very welcome before Saturday night 22nd June.

Thank you from Aubrey.

Fantastic write-up Aubrey, very best of luck for clear weather and safe travelling. 11 TSEs qualifies you as a true ecliptomaniac!

Looking forward to your report when you return.

Thank you, Finbarr.
Those are very pleasant comments from you.
There is a You Tube video on Cloudy Nights showing the area where we will most likely view the eclipse.
And there is barely a cloud in the sky with the Sun beaming down at magnitude -26.7.
I am hoping it will stay that way for July 2nd.

Thank you, Paul.
I very much enjoyed your recent talk at Solarfest.
I sincerely hope that you and your wife will observe a 3rd Total Solar Eclipse in the not too distant future.

Kindest regards,

Aubrey.
