Occultation of Nu Virginis tonight was created by flt158
Hi all.

For those of us who might not receive the Orbit magazine or Sky High 2020, there is an opportunity of seeing Nu Virginis being occulted my our Moon at 22.15 Irish Summer Time tonight Sunday 3rd May.
Nu Virginis is an M class star. So there should be some red or orange hue which might be visible. The star's magnitude is 4.
By all means check it out!
It will be a goodie.
Also Gassendi ought be close to the terminator with its twin peaks and some rilles.
That's a goodie too!

Clear skies from Aubrey.

Using my 20x90 binoculars, I saw Nu disappear at 21.16UT and reappear at 22.10 UT.  It may have reappeared a little earlier, there was a lot of thin cloud, it was like observing through lace curtain.
Watching the clouds rush across the face of the moon, I began to feel like I was suffering from travel sickness with all the motipnr.

Well done, Paul.
21.16 UT is the correct time mode to use on such instances.
I saw Nu Virginis disappear at that time also.
There was a very slight redness about the star, but nothing to write home about.
Still it was my 2nd lunar occultation of 2020.
The previous one was Ain which is a naked eye bright star in Taurus.

There were many swirling clouds coming and going on Sunday night.
Let us hope we won't have any tonight Monday.

Clear skies are here again!

Aubrey.
