Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

From May 21 through May 26, comet PanSTARRS will pass close to the galaxy pair, being closest on May 22.

It should make a great sight and an excellent opportunity for photographers.
PanSTARRS passed the Double Cluster in January, and as usual, the Irish weather played its usual nasty trick and clouded us out. Fingers crossed for this one.

I managed to observe this event with my 120mm refractor, and I have to say that I was disappointed in the appearance of PanSTARRS, it showed as nothing more than an amorphous blob of nebulous light. I could not see any sign of a tail. Maybe the tail is only visible in photographs.

That's okay, Paul.
Many congratulations to you for observing 3 "fuzzy" objects together!
Clear skies,
Aubrey.
