Managed to get it just now (17:02hrs). It is still a good 6 or 7 degrees up off the horizon at this time. Lots of haze across that whole western horizon, with cloud further south, so I can't actually see it with the naked eyeright now. Maybe in the next couple of minutes as the sky darkens more.

I had to use my 8-24 X 50's, doing a very light sweep of the area - didn't take long to get it. No point in getting a photo, because of the haze. Very bright nucleus. Using foreground objects (trees, and an aerial) do judge the length of the tail visible, I'd say it is only 2 to 3 degrees I am getting, if even that.

Finally, some success for Seanie! :D

Magic image Keith, makes me want to go look for it with my x-ray vision that can see through clouds.
I'm starting to think you're living in a different country to the rest of us, you don't by chance live somewhere in southern Europe with all those clear skies

Further Observation @ 17:14hrs:

Comet has brightened a bit, can spot it with the naked eye now, but it is setting fast. I have just about lost it to a couple of distant trees. My vantage point for all of this was the upstairs back windows, luckily.

A rethink on the tail length - I'd say no more than 2 degrees in length from my perspective.

Now I can quit bitching about the weather for another little while! :)

Nice Photo Keith!
I spotted it again this evening just before leaving work!
at 17.15
Again, the sky cleared just exactly in time in the west,
(the boss had just left so I skidaddled out to the car park with my binos)

It was through heavy city haze and I could only get it in the 10x50's.
I had the Canon with me but I figured it would work as I just have the
standard 18-55mm lense.

3rd lucky sighting for me this week,
which is incredable thinking about the weather we are having...

I'd love to get a pic of it though....

Can the tail be seen naked eye?

Yeah Dave, I seen it naked eye for abot 10 minutes Some sight! :P

What do you reckon the chances are of seeing it from a city?! Can't be many days left before we lose it altogether.

Easy, because the sky will still be bright, but we really only have tomorrow to see it

you don't by chance live somewhere in southern Europe with all those clear skies Laughing Wink

Ah Now, I wish!

Good observation gents, I've heard it now brighter at magnitude -2!
