Tomorrow, Wednesday night sees Venus' closest approach to the Seven Sisters (M45, The Pleaides). By closest approach, I mean it will be within 2.5 degrees of the cluster, a little to their lower-left seen in the western evening sky after twillight. A great photographic opportunity. The last time they were this close was in April 2004. Of course, they will have appeared close in the past few days, and will in the next few, but Wednesday night is the closest approach.

Its shocking to see how bad the tracking was back then, this was with only 2.5 second exposures, about a 1.5 years later the scope was able to (sporadically) get up to 5 minute exposures fairly bang on, of course at that stage the dome was built so I had time to refine the polar alignment. I haven't tried it recently.
As for my "tracking" with the 20", its only as good as the operator, and is fairly tough going at 600x plus,
As for software bisque, they can wait a little longer.
