Very bright as seen form down here (Tullamore/Daingean) also. However, there were many regular cloud bands between me and the NLC's, so, even though THIS TIME I had a camera at my disposal, I couldn't get a clear shot!

Saw it last night at around 3AM.
The whole northern sky was lit with it.
It was almost like dawn.
Come to think of it, I've often heard of farmers using the term 'False Dawn'
I wonder is it related?
I'd does seem alright the NLC's this year are more of a morning event.
