I don't know about any of ye but I'm itching for this meteor shower!!

This year is not expected to return huge numbers but fingers are always crossed!
I wonder are any of the federations' clubs organizing a 'Perseid Party' ?

Each year, TAS holds an observing session/barbeque/camping session in the club's observing site. It's open to everyone, including members of other clubs and there's no charge. Just bring your own tent (if staying overnight) and food & drink for the BBQ. We usually have a few members of other clubs to pop over for the night. Good craic sitting round the campfire and chilling out. You're more than welcome to call up if you want.
This year should be realatively good, if the weather holds up, as the moon will be away. The last few years, the moon decided to try and join in the fun, only to wash out all but the brighter meteors.

I assume it'll be on the Saturday night, but will double-check just to be sure.
The observing site is just on the outskirts of Tullamore town, on the Mountmellick Road (on the side ye would be entering the town from) near the speed limit signs. It's down at the end of a narrow lane to a quite spot. Site is secure and has a hard-standing parking area for 15 cars or so. You're more than welcome to call up. I'll drop you a pm with my phone number.
If anyone else is interested in calling up and doesn't know where the site is, please feel free to contact myself or Seanie.

Galway AC might be holding a BBQ also up the galway coast on a secluded beach, will have several large scopes on the Sat night.
