Full Moon tonight was created by Frank Ryan
Just to tick all you deep space observers off tonight, the sky is clear and
there is going to be a full moon rising around 10:30 in the SE.
It's only going to get around 10 deg high but it should make for a nice 'big Moon' sight
(or photo op.)
There was a lovely shot on Spaceweather today:

(looks like a shot from Ireland.)

The darn thing was shining into my bedroom window all night... doesn't help insomniacs, but is still nice to admire!

Hey Frank, that's a lovely shot they had up there.
I spent a good hour looking at the moon last night. Just arrived in Crete with the APO on Friday night (man it's hot - 38C in the shade yesterday). Heat wave has killed transparency but seeing is great. The Moon and Jupiter look superb from here - that's really all that can be seen.
I think I'll take a feather from Deirdre's cap and attempt to do some sketches of la luna tonight

Ya know, given the recent weather I just sat there and looked at it with the naked eye for a while, picking out its seas and seeing if I could make out its most prominent craters, so sky starved am I.
