Just looking at Starry Night - if anyone has a really good SW horizon this evening (9th Jan) the Moon (1.5% illuminated) and Mercury will be .5deg apart 3deg above the horizon as soon as the Sun sets today - ie 1630 or so.

It was dead clear to the east here so I went up the hill to look to the west and there was some thick grey stuff that's probably got snow in it coming over. Still, it was the thought that counted
