We are right in the south east of the country and it didn't look anything like 26% to me. I thought it never went past 20% if that. Still, a great morning - rest of the sky was quite cloudy but the gods were smiling and just the right part of the sky stayed clear for most of the eclipse.
Great to hear that the guys in Russia had clear skies - roll on 2009.....

Hi,
Yes, it was 26% magnitude in Dublin at 10.11. But remember that the 26% is the solar diameter, not the sun's apparent area (called the 'obscuration') covered. This is an obscuration of just 16%.
From Waterford the magnitude and corresponding obscuration would have been a little less than Dublin,

for the first time in a long time we had clear skies for an astronomical event here in kerry. i managed to see about 90 - 95% of it and fired off some shots. here is one of within a few seconds of maximum, 70mm skylux refractor eos 450d

max magnitude 23.4%
max obscuration 13.3%
these occured at 10.10 (irish summer time)

Nice image from Kerry indeed. I'm going to Kerry tomorrow for the weekend. Wish I'd gone a day early now as the whole thing was clouded out here near Nenagh!
