Phone call from the guys in Novosibirsk was created by johnflannery
Hi all,
Just got a phone call from Michael O'Connell in Novosibirsk. They have 80% clear skies at the moment (it was about 50% clear earlier this morning) and they are on the northern shores of the lake outside the city along with the group from Greece.
Fingers crossed for everyone in the path of totality!
Apparently Chinese customs have confiscated equipment from people who travelled from Novo across Mongolia and into China who were searching for clearer skies.
Michael will ring me after totality with an update.

I was talking to Michael again a little while ago after First Contact and the skies are almost clear. Excellent news!!!
Excitement is building at the Novo site and I know a couple of groups are doing live broadcasts from different locations.
Anthony has managed to wrangle his way into a restricted area apparently to view the eclipse with some scientists!
www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/2008 (Exploratorium group is in China and live broadcast starts at 11:30am BST)
www.google.ie/search?hl=en&q=eclipse+2008+live&meta= (Google search for other live broadcasts)
Michael to ring me later with updates.
atb,
John
