Hi All,
I nearly completely forgot about this one.
The moon crosses in front of Neptune tonight, it starts to cross neptune at 03h 20m 56s (saturday morning 13th) and obscures the disk in less then about 7 seconds, the planet then appears from behind the moon 04h 07m 21s and this again takes about 7 seconds, it would be interesting to time it precisely at the eyepeice.
Neptune is at mag 7.84 so requiring a telescope.
The moon will be setting at this stage but if its clear and you're up, then have a look for it,

Does the occultation of Neptune by cloud count as an occultation??
If so, the occultation commenced approx 6 months ago and is till in progress.

Well, Dave & I saw the beginning of it at the tail end of a session in the Burren on Friday night / Saturday morning.
Pity I to get up for work on Saturday so it was a case of
seeing Neptune and the limb of the Moon in the eyepiece.
Neptune was most defiantly a disk and quite blue.
There are some other lunar occultations coming up this month also worth keeping an eye out for.
