Hi All,
Anyone out there planning an observing session on sunday night for this shower, peaking at around 5am monday morning and there is no moon!
Its supposed to be a good one this year, so a few of us are contemplating going up to the Burren for it, all we need are good skies.
If the skies are clear I'm bringing the scope and doing some deep sky observing between meteor watching stints, if I lye down on a recliner for the night and try and do a proper meteor watch then I'll be asleep by midnight, going on previous attempts to do this.

Dave - I bet those sleeps were exquisite - there is nothing like sleeping while looking up at the stars. I've slept under the stars on a small number of occasions. Once I had the opportunity of doing it on the deck of a yacht in the Scilly isles (early 1980's) It's a memory that will never be eroded. Dark skies - gentle swaying of the heavens...
To ensure that I remain on thread - point is, either way you win - good observing session or a better than average sleep.
If you tell me that your sleeps under the stars where less than exquisite then I'll have to reappraise my psychology...

Maybe we can wire up some electric buzzers ala the Simpsons
to keep us alert..
I'll be bringing the Canon with widefield lens and astrotrac to
take a few hours worth of shots, hopefully make a montage...
I'll be on the recliner well wrapped up with a flask of coffee at hand.
Make sure you bring the Floyd Dave.
I'm really looking forward to this!

It had just stay clear, thats all!
I'm tempted to go out on both Saturday and Sunday night, but I suppose that would be alot to ask...

Hi lads, I was out last night untill 5am, a nice show under really clear winter skies, I'd say about 30 per hour would be a rough estimate, saw some nice bright ones too!

Hi Guys
I combined all the images from both North and West facing video cameras and summed the images for both in Mira-Pro. The images needed to be cleaned up mostly due to commercial airliners captured within the FOV. The FOV is 33 x 45 degrees in each case. The video monitoring was between ~19:30 on 11th December to ~06:00 on 12th December. Let’s hope for a few more clear nights over the weekend.

West: farm5.static.flickr.com/4045/4178950214_fe0f6e1574_o.jpg
Equipment & Software for both West and North Cams:
CBC Computar High Speed Aspherical 8mm f0.8 lens
Watec 902DM2S ½” format Video cameras
Canopus ADVC-55 firewire Frame Grabber
SonotaCo UFO Capture V2.22
Clear skies
