Hi all,
This is aimed at the more recently-joined members on our forums, but anyone can take part. Mid-March to early April is favoured from our latitudes as the ideal time to try the Messier Marathon. The Messier list contains 110 objects scored and marked by Charles Messier who was an avid comet hunter. This time frame is ideal to try and see all the objects in one night - hence the marathon bit!
IFAS members have created a series of Challenge Handbooks over time, included is the Messier Challenge. It has all the information regarding the objects, finder charts, and areas for you to record your observation(s).
More information on the IFAS Observing Challenges here.
If you do have a go at catching as many of these as possible, please report back your findings both here and to the club you are a member of.
Good Luck!
Seanie.
