Total Lunar Eclipse 15th June 2011

Delighted to see that Michael Murphy has put up a post on www.irishastrosoc.org stating that there will be an observing session at the Martello Tower in Sandymount on the 15th June to have a shot at observing the Lunar Eclipse. Myself and Bob O'Brien plan to be there with the Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers from about 8.30 onwards. Let us pray for clear skies.

Just a reminder about this.

Eclipse details are:
Moon enters Penumbra: 18:24.
Moon enters Umbra: 19:22.
Totality starts: 20:21.
Maximum eclipse: 21:11.
Totality ends: 22:01.
Moon exits Umbra: 23:01.
Moon exits Penumbra: 23:59.

Moonrise is at 21:46.

At best we sill see the last 15 minutes of the eclipse with the Moon close to the horizon.

The plan is to meet at the Martello tower in Sandymount at 9.15.
