Aurora Last night 08/08/12 was created by R Newman
A lovely Irish aurora from my back garden last night just after 2am this morning, the first of the autumn season, my seventh this year and an unexpected outburst but vivid in colour and easily visible in bright Moonlight which was even mor
e surprising. The data all evening suggested an aurora night be possible with a fluctuating magnetic field and solar wind and there were three outburts, one at 0030 and two more at 0200 and 0230

They were taken from my back garden, the orange is from a few strret lights but my garden is facing north and torwards the Ox mountains an, there is no towns between here and them whie beyond that is the Atlantic, I suppose thats the reason I have seen 7 aurorae and imaged this year so far.
Some one asked me if im a "Vampire" lol and do I not sleep, I do but not if an aurora is possible

Wow! That's awesome, Ronan.
I remember when I was a child being terrified by the aurora
once. Haven't seen it down in the south of Ireland in years though.
