Another couple of the comet was created by TrevorDurity
Hi all,
One shot from last week and two from late Wednesday night. Hadn't actually realised there was going to be a conjunction - just got lucky and had clear weather. The shots are looking over the ruins of Ross Erilly Friary, near Headford, Galway. Thought the ruins were a fitting location since comets were once seen as harbingers of doom
The main road is right behind the building so there was a good bit of skyglow and the comet barely visible visually. Looked great through the little 66mm WO and bright photographically. We were stopped at the gate by security but after a quick explanation the allowed us on to the grounds - though the looks we got suggested they thought we were a bit mad in the head to be standing in the middle of an exposed field with telescopes, camera, lenses, etc, etc.
The weather was absolutely pristine.

Many thanks Keith. Was well worth going out that night. Good to have a decent comet in the northern hemisphere finally

Lovely images Trevor, the friary gives the shots a wonderful foreground perspective. In the time of the friaries use, comets were seen as objects of wonder and awe, some things don't change then.

Great shot there Trevor, very scenic, you got a real dark horizon there.
