Jupiter + Callisto was created by flt158
It appears that we are going to have clear skies tonight. As soon as sunset occurs, I hope to point my 6.2 inch apo at the planet Jupiter. As keen observers of Jupiter may know, the moon Callisto has not been transiting the planet over the last 6 months. This Thursday night, it passes very close to the north pole of Jupiter. It should be quite a spectacular sight! Let's give it a try.
I think Callisto orbits Jupiter every 16 days. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Aubrey.

We've got beautiful clear skies in Dublin with lovely Jupiter over in the western sky. Valerie and I only looked at Jupiter tonight -but what a treat! With my 6.2" apo at 40X we could only see Europa, Io and Ganymede. So I increased to 112X, we could see Callisto very close to the north pole of the planet in the 1 o'clock position. It was too windy to use higher magnification. But very nice indeed. Did anyone else get a view? We were observing from 9.30 to 10 pm.
