Congratulations Eamonn - well done. For short exposures you are really pulling out good detail there.

Thats a fine image Eamonn, even given that it was taken using a 0.9 meter scope !. well done.

Fabulous image Eamonn, loads of detail in that. Is that your 3ft telescope? Well done.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
Kinch: I did many attempts in order to yield all the interstellar dust in the inner and outer parts of this galaxy. The exposures for this image were at the limits of defining this detail. I found longer exposures were drowning out the delicate detail due to stars being over exposed. I suppose I could have taken multiple shorter exposures which may have brought out more detail.
Paul: Yes. You need large aperture and a camera with high quantum efficiency to penetrate and record faint detail in a galaxy of this type.
Eamonn

A tough competition to call indeed. Many thanks to all whom contributed their excellent work to September’s competition but there has to be a winner and so congratulations Eamonn on a truly deserving first place.
