With the closure of the July Astrophotography Competition, it is time to judge the entries. Please view the only image this month, and select from the poll options the only one available to you. There is no need to reply to this post, or add comments - peoples views are their own but may seem to sway favour towards a particular photo if too many comments towards a particular photo is made.

You have only 1 Vote, so make it count! :P

Entry #1

30 second exposure of our own Milky Way galaxy as seen from the South Island of New Zealand.

Do I need to wish the entrant luck? ;)

I LIKE CHEESE Opps sorry I've spent too much time watching Fosters Home for Imaginery Firends with my wee girl.

Anyway Seanie How can you ask for images of a summer galaxy and then ask us to troll through our previous images? Should not the monthly photo comp be restricted to images taken during that month?

I'm sure Anto will support me here on this one. :D (Have you got that post-it scanned yet?)

Kieran,

My intention was to submit the following which is both a galaxy and which involves a landscape as per the original requirements: www.perseus.gr/Astro-Milky-Way-20050710.htm .... HOWEVER, what really through me off (in the original requirements) was the request for a "geat galaxy" ( :P ) and I am still trying to figure out what that is so that I will know next time what I am supposed to pursue and submit.

Hi Kieran,
When we were thinking up of the competition, we decided to allow previously taken images. The reason being that not everyone takes regular pictures, due to factors like weather, variety, and so on. It is hoped that when a theme is set that those into astrophotography will make an effort in that month that the competition is run. But, as can be seen from most of the entries that are submitted with each monthly theme, that is not the case.

Seanie,

How about being a little more laxed ... for example, taken during the past three months (or something similar)?

Just a thought.
