Any chance of a third level domain?
Something like www.aop.irishastronomy.org

no bother. I did it for ILPAC and have offered to do it for all IFAS clubs repeatedly but none ever take me up on it!

The above was mentioned in another thread. Is it possible for all clubs within IFAS to take responsibility and do this, AND produce a short page for IFAS here? Those with no sites at all should take advantage if such an offer pops up.

I can set up a redirect at www.clubname.irishastronomy.org for any IFAS club. All you have to do is send me the URL you want me to redirect that URL to.

But for the benefit of IFAS showing off its member clubs, would it not be a good idea for a brief page on each club to be within the confines of this site too?

Why? For example SDAS already has the more descriptive www.southdublinastronomy.org and links to this site and IFAS links to it. So why bother maintaining the subdomain?

That's why I'm suggesting the subdomains as re-directs for those who want them rather than as actaul web pages.

Also, there is space on the clubs page for each club to have a paragraph about themselves.

I know all that! My point is simply, for all its intents and purposes, IFAS only has a small box on the front page with a list of its member clubs acting as hyperlinks. I have long since found (suggested to me by many others) that a small page with where each club is located, its activities, and perhaps, if clubs themselves are responsible, snippets about latest news and events, as well as upcoming meetings, with a link to a main site (IF any), etc should be included on IFAS itself - as its an umbrella of these clubs. The rest e.g. photos, reports, histories, services, etc etc can be found on their respective main sites.
