Up to now every time I login to Irishastronomy main page it knows who I am, I have no problems reading new messages posted since my last visit, this has changed in the last 2 days, I have to login which is a pain in the butt, (was automatically logged in before) If I tick the automatically login box i get kicked out now probably due to my firewall, I have changed nothing in my system, have changes been made here, are others experiencing this ?
Charles
No changes have been made ot that aspect of the site in over 6 months so nothing has changed on this end I'm afraid. I also use the auto login option all the time and it is giving me no problems at all.
The autologin requires that your browser has cookies enabled and that those cookies not get deleted between visits. Some "security" software messes with your cookies so that could well be the cause of your problems.

If you go into your control panel and click on "Automatic Updates". Here you'll be able to see if Windows is downloading updates and installing them itself.
Alot of Microsofts Security Updates can cause problems with these kinds of settings. Have you installed any of these youself lately?

Works fine for me on Linux, Solaris and a Mac
Souds like your cookies arent working as you expect, that should be configurable in your browser preferences somewhere.

This is certainly a deleted cookie problem and my first suspicion is that of a disk clean-up initiated by the user.
