I need an e-mail fix change. was created by Frank Concannon
I want to recieve all emils from the site as individual mails.
Currently I get the new topic notification (and the thread up-date notification to any threads I have posted to). I have neither the TIME or the inclination to manually follow all the links on every topic (Ya I'm just a lazy so-&-so). I need something more like a traditional listserver feed.
Right now what is happening is that I am missing certain discussions (because it a longer process to start a browser, log on, click through etc). All this is much more efficiently done in regular email.
I can't locate any setting that gives me "all e-mail"
Help!!

I had exactly the same feelings when I initially signed up to the IFAS forums. I still find it takes too much time to follow up each interesting thread as I have to fire up the browser and then log on over a dial-up line. As a result, I don't bother and have to miss out. I asked Bart about the possibility of receiving all mails directly (just like a regular list server) but he had a lot on his plate at the time. Hopefully the future is brighter? It would also be great if we could loose most of the extraeous guff at the beginning of each message and also replace the "New topic notification..." with list-server standard "[IFAS] Topic Name."
Pretty please Bart?
Philip.
PS - Top marks for all the hard work so far... and for putting up with us whingy lot!

Guys a much easier method is to use the RSS feed. Theres a couple of ways to do it.
RSS feeds deliver the latest posts through an rss reader program or through another website.
You can then gather all of the sites that you want to check regularly in one place.
For more info on RSS check this out
news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/3223484.stm
there are many rss readers out there; this is the one I use.
www.rssreader.com
Finally I have implemented some rss feeds on my website, you can read them directly from there without needing to install a reader.

Hope this all helps.

Thanks Dave, I'll check out RSS, but it's handy to have all your messages in your usual mail reader (Outllook for me) partially for archiving... and partly for bulk deleting!

It gets even better than that.
Check out rss popper here;
rsspopper.blogspot.com/2004/10/download.html
its a plugin for outlook and outlook express which delivers rss feeds into a folder of your choice:)
BTW the rss URL for this board is;
www.irishastronomy.org/boards/rss.php
enjoy!

There isnt a way to have the board software send individual emails unfortunately. Though Bart, if there is new software to do that it would be cool.
For the moment RSS is the best option.
