Topic Notification

Is anyone getting topic notifications on their email that don't have anything to do with astronomy. The notifications have the same layout as genuine notes but when you scroll down the topic has nothing to do astronomy

Hi Joanna. Are you referring to the 'Location of beaches' notification? If so it was just a post from an annoying spammer which the moderators have now deleted.

Not just that one. I had another the other day which I ignored and I've just got another one about software for cleaning up your computer

I just one for cleaning up internet content.
I just deleted it.

We are looking into the issue at the moment. We are considering a number of actions which would help protect members from spam, but not to impede on the functionality of the website.
Some measures have been introduced lately which only affects the sign-up process for new members. We'll see how these work and take further action if necessary.

If anyone receives e-mail notifications from the website and you do not wish to get them anymore, please inform a moderator or member of the web team.
Removing this feature may help speed up the website a little so if you don't need this feature, let us know and we'll deactivate if for you.

If anyone receives spam or inappropriate e-mails or private messages through the website, we would greatly appreciate if you would please contact the web team or a moderator immediately.
