Eclipse and Venus transit chasing

hi Bart,

many thanks for all the hard work you are putting in to make this newsgroup a success.

I was talking with Brian Seales (of the ecliptomaniac.com website fame) last night and afterwards was wondering if we should have another forum for people to discuss their plans for going to the forthcoming big events such as the Venus transit in 2004 and the solar eclipse in Turkey in 2006.

Brian is also talking of going to Madagascar in 2004 to catch the end of the partial eclipse from the same beach they saw the total eclipse in 2001 from and would love to gauge interest.

maybe to call the forum "Eclipse/Venus Transit Chasers" or something similar.

Terry and David Bell are already formulating plans for Turkey in 2006 while Brian and some of his group are also Turkey-bound with the South Africa Astronomical Society.

with the vagaries of the Irish weather I will definitely be fleeing the country for the Venus Transit in June 2004!
